EVENT DESCRIPTION: If you have difficulty accessing this webpage or need assistance purchasing tickets, please contact us at ReelAbilitiesLA@lacity.org or by phone at 213-202-2749 (TTY: 213-202-3452).
The ReelAbilities Film Festival: Los Angeles is a three-day festival dedicated to promoting awareness and appreciation of the lives, stories, and artistic expressions of people with disabilities. We showcase new and classic films, conversations, and programs that explore, embrace, and celebrate the diversity of our shared human experience.
Hosted by the City of Los Angeles Department on Disability, in partnership with Street Food Cinema and Grand Performances, this year’s 5th ReelAbilities Film Festival: Los Angeles will take place on October 21, 22 & 23rd in Downtown LA’s California Plaza.
Kick off the three-day event with food, drinks, and a screening of the award-winning movie "CODA" followed by a panel discussion.
Join the ReelAbilities Film Festival: Los Angeles on Saturday for a day filled with international short films, documentaries, panel sessions, and a feel-good comedy about three young men with disabilities on a road trip to a brothel in Montreal to lose their virginity and embrace their independence.
Visit us for a family-friendly Sunday Funday event! We’ll start the day with superhero themed shorts hosted by the EasterSeals Disability Film Challenge. Hang out at CA Plaza, check out the food trucks, and join us for a dance party between showings of Finding Nemo and Poppy.
Our final event of the festival is sure to go for the gold as we premiere a never-before-seen episode of a new series called Rising Phoenix: Tokyo. We’ll wrap our 5th ReelAbilities Film Festival with a special panel that will highlight the series filmmaker, Paralympians, and surprise guests.
The Department on Disability offers ASL interpretation and CART (Communication Access Real-time Translation) services for introductions, post-screening conversations, and non-film programming. The festival venue is wheelchair accessible and all films are presented with full audio description and captioning.
